Akemi (アケミ) is the lover of Takashi who is killed by Xianming Lin when he targets Takashi on behalf of the Kakyuu Association.

Akemi is a young woman who is depicted in sleepwear and with tousled hair. In the novel, her hair is described as being light brown, nearly gold. In the anime, her hair is dark red. Her fashion tastes imply that she cares about appearances.

Akemi invites Lin inside
Akemi wakes up and answers the door when Lin rings, dressed like a woman. She initially tries to feign ignorance of anyone named Takashi, but after Lin claims to have been cheated on, she sympathizes with him and allows him inside to break up with the man in question. She turns around to lead the way, and the moment Lin crosses the threshold of the small apartment, he grabs a knife off of the kitchen counter, covers Akemi's mouth with his other hand, and slits her throat. Her blood splashes on Takashi as he exits the bathroom.
After Akemi and Takashi have both been killed, Lin goes through her closet, taking some of her clothes and a name-brand bag.
Etymology[]
- The name Akemi is written in katakana (アケミ), which has no special meaning. However, when written in kanji (明美), it could possibly mean "bright, light, clear" (明) (ake) and "beautiful" (美) (mi).
