Chromartie (クロマティ), nicknamed Kuro (クロ), is Misaki Tanaka's cat. He is adopted during the first light novel when Misaki saves him from being tortured and killed.

Chromartie is an all-black cat, befitting his nickname. He is medium-sized, wary of people, and is affectionate toward Jiro and Misaki. When they find him, he is slightly dirty, leading them to believe he is a stray.

Mayor Harada Scandal Arc[]
Jiro and Misaki pay a visit to Shota Yamazaki, a teen who has made a hobby of torturing and killing cats and posting the video footage online. They find a black cat in his home, surrounded by knives, hammers, and other tools for torture. Revealing that they are avengers sent to avenge a beloved pedigree cat he had killed, the pair abducts him, taking the rescued stray with them. While Jiro brings Shota to a warehouse to be tortured and killed, Misaki brings Chromartie home to get acquainted with her new pet. At some later point, the family has to move into an apartment that allows pets in order for her to keep him.
Avengers Arc[]
Jiro finds Chromartie at home and hungry after Misaki runs away. His defenselessness proves to Jiro that their home has not had an intruder and that Misaki has run away on her own.
