Kunio Yamazaki (山崎邦夫, Yamazaki Kunio) is the president of Yamazaki Transportation and business partner of the Mutagawa Group, offering his company's services to help with their smuggling business.
Characteristics[]
Appearance[]
Kunio is noted to be a short man with a protruding stomach. He dresses formally, usually seen in a suit with his company seal embroidered on his work shirt.
Personality[]
Having run a business for most of his career and collaborating with local gangs, Kunio acts as a composed, cold, authoritative figure. Unlike his daughter Mieko, he maintains a realistic outlook and does not let emotion cloud his judgment, acknowledging that his grandson was not the ideal child everyone made him out to be. Despite the wrongdoings his grandson had committed, he still cares about his family enough to request the Mutagawa Group avenge his grandson and put his daughter's mind at ease.
Synopsis[]
Avengers Arc[]
Kunio meets with Sanjou in a cafe to discuss their business deals. Upon seeing the news of another child abduction, Kunio is reminded of his grandson's disappearance a year prior and requests Sanjou find Shota's killer, giving him a photo and URL to lead his search.
The business partners meet again two days later, where Sanjou reports to him the events of the previous night, in which several of his men were killed. Kunio grants him permission to hire a new hitman, involving one more person in the human trafficking business the two organizations are establishing.
Kunio is enraged when the attempt at human smuggling goes badly and the children are rescued by the police, having to pay a small fortune to cover up his company's involvement in the operation. In order to attempt to fix their damaged relationship, Sanjou offers to present Kunio's daughter with the daughter of the avenger who killed his grandson Shota, offering the Yamazaki family a chance at revenge. Kunio approves of Sanjou's plan to pose as a potential foster parent and adopt the avenger's daughter, though he is not without doubts that the plan will go smoothly.
